Arizona Voters to Decide Abortion Rights

Arizona voters will decide in November whether to enshrine abortion rights in the state Constitution. This ballot measure is a victory for Democrats, who have used abortion to energize their voter base. Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v.

Wade two years ago, abortion rights advocates have won all seven state referendums on the issue. Democrats are now trying to extend this momentum into key battleground states.

“As abortion rights have higher poll numbers than Kamala Harris, Democrats believe the Arizona ballot measure could greatly boost voter turnout,” said Kate Zernike, a reporter covering abortion issues.

In Missouri, state officials have also announced a similar ballot measure for November.

Although Kamala Harris is unlikely to win Missouri, a traditionally red state, the approval of the measure would show strong support for abortion access even in conservative areas. If voters approve the measure, Missouri would be the first state where a near-total ban was overturned by a public vote.
