The Social Security Administration has scheduled several payments for August, benefiting retirees, survivors, and disabled Americans. SSI recipients and those part of the Retirement, Survivor, and Disability Insurance program have already received payments on the 1st and 3rd of the month. Four additional payments are set for August, based on the beneficiary’s birth date.
Those born between the 1st and 10th will receive their payment on August 14th. Individuals born between the 11th and 20th can expect their payment on August 21st. Finally, those born between the 21st and 31st will receive their payment on August 28th.
SSI recipients will get an extra payment this month since the first of September falls on a weekend. They will receive their September benefits in advance, meaning no further Social Security check payments next month. On average, disabled individuals could receive $1,537 in benefits, with variations based on work history and Social Security contributions.
August payment schedule details
The maximum benefit for disabled individuals can reach $3,822, while blind individuals may receive up to $2,590 per month. SSI recipients who file individually typically receive $943, and couples receive $1,415 in monthly benefits.
With the extra payment this month, individuals will receive a total of $1,886, and couples will receive $2,830. Beneficiaries’ monthly benefits already include a 3.2% increase from the cost of living adjustment (COLA). The Senior Citizens League forecasts the COLA for 2025 to be around 2.63%.
If approved in October, all beneficiaries will see their Social Security benefits rise by that amount starting in January 2025. However, this is a preliminary estimate, and the final percentage could vary. Social Security recipients can look forward to scheduled payments based on their birth dates and additional SSI payments in August.
Future increases based on COLA adjustments will ensure that Social Security keeps pace with inflation, providing vital financial support to retirees, survivors, and disabled individuals.
