Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the launch of a new initiative, the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan Yojana, on Thursday. The scheme aims to empower youth by providing financial support to young individuals interested in entrepreneurship. The announcement was made during an event to mark the nation’s 78th Independence Day in front of Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow.
Under the scheme, the state government targets establishing one million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) units across Uttar Pradesh. “Youngsters are a critical pillar of progress. They are talented and energetic, and their contribution is vital for building a developed India.
Our State Government is committed to education and employment for youth. With this in mind, I am introducing the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan Yojana scheme, which aims to create employment opportunities for 50 lakh young people,” Mr. Adityanath said.
The Chief Minister highlighted that over 16.2 million young people have secured employment through investments made in the State. Additionally, 62 lakh youth have been connected with self-employment opportunities by leveraging both Central and State Government schemes, and more than 6.5 lakh youth secured government jobs in the past seven years. To further boost entrepreneurship, a dedicated start-up fund has been established to finance new ventures.

The government is also taking steps to revamp the curriculum for primary, secondary, higher, vocational, and technical education in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP). So far this academic year, over 20.5 lakh children have enrolled in council schools.
The government is also providing financial assistance to parents for purchasing school uniforms and supplies through a direct benefit transfer (DBT) program. The CM mentioned the establishment of Mukhyamantri Awasiya Vidyalayas in every division and plans to set up Chief Minister Model Composite Schools in 57 districts. New government high schools and inter colleges have also been founded in previously underserved areas.
The ‘One Division, One University’ concept has now become a reality, and work is ongoing to achieve ‘One District, One University.’ New universities in Azamgarh, Aligarh, and Saharanpur are functioning effectively, and projects for universities in Moradabad, Gonda, Mirzapur, and an agriculture and technology university in Kushinagar are underway. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University is ready, and the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University in Gorakhpur will soon be completed. The state’s first sports university in Meerut is also under construction.
Adityanath shared that over 56 lakh poor families have received housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Additionally, more than 1.86 crore people obtained free LPG connections, and drinking water connections were provided to over 2.65 crore families. Free food grains have been distributed to 15 crore poor people.
Efforts have also been made to improve facilities for marginalized communities such as the Vantangiyas, Musahars, Tharus, and Kols, who were previously neglected since Independence. Improved housing, land leases, schools, and ration provisions have been part of this inclusivity drive, Adityanath stated.
