The Clinton community is reeling after a devastating fire ripped through four local businesses on Tuesday evening. The blaze, which started at the House of Pizza, quickly spread to neighboring establishments through the basement of the old buildings. Fire Marshal Donya Langston reported that two firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the flames.

One was transported to the hospital, while the other remained on the scene. Both are in stable condition. In addition to the four businesses that were completely destroyed, a few surrounding establishments suffered minor water and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Photos and videos from the scene reveal the extent of the damage and the challenges firefighters faced in controlling the blaze. The community is now focused on recovering and rebuilding.

Fire devastates central Clinton businesses

On Wednesday, the congregation filled Davidson Street Baptist Church to mourn the loss of the affected businesses. Local pastor Kenny Moore expressed gratitude that there were no serious injuries, but highlighted the impact of the fire on the small city.

“You have a small city that’s dependent upon those businesses for employees, to see the doctor, to go out with your family, to eat, and those are gone,” Moore said. “That affects more than what we realize.”

Ward 4 City Councilman Gary Kuykendall emphasized the city’s commitment to restoration, saying, “We’ll go in and try to search out what we can do from the state and federal sides. Apply for some grants to rebuild these buildings.

So to bring these jobs back in.”

Kuykendall added, “We can see God’s hand. And he’s greater than any mountain anywhere, so we’ll be okay. But we appreciate all the prayers and support we can get.”

The Clinton community continues to band together to support affected businesses and first responders as they navigate through the aftermath of this tragic incident.

Despite the heavy loss, many find solace in the fact that there were no fatalities and remain hopeful for the future.
